CAN and CANopen (DS402)
Standardized device parameter access
CETONI devices are connected via the CAN bus and use the CANopen protocol for standardized access to all device parameters. The Siemens S7 controllers do not support a CAN bus by default, but use Profibus or Profinet for the connection of decentralized devices.
However, you can expand your S7 controllers with CAN bus and CANopen capabilities via corresponding modules from third party suppliers and thus integrate our pumps with the maximum possible CAN bus data rates of 1 Mbps. Alternatively, you can use the RS232 interface to connect the neMESYS pumps to your S7 controller. Then the data rate is limited to a maximum of 115200 kbit/s.
Helmholz offers two CAN modules that can be used to extend the S7-300 and S7-400 controllers with CAN bus capabilities. Helmholz provides examples for both modules for accessing the drive controllers of the neMESYS pumps. With the help of the neMESYS Firmware Specification you will quickly get started with the implementation of the pump functionality in your S7 project.
The CM CANopen enables you to connect any CANopen or CAN 2.0A device to the SIMATIC S7-1200 PLC. The module plugs into the communication module interface of the S7-1200 and acts as a bridge between the CANopen or CAN devices and the SIMATIC basic controller. This allows you to connect and control the neMESYS pumps via CAN bus with your S7-1200. With the help of the neMESYS Firmware Specification you will quickly get started with the implementation of the pump functionality in your S7 project.
With the appropriate adapter cable you simply connect your CETONI devices to the CAN bus or RS232 interface of your controller. The 24V for the power supply of the CETONI devices can be connected via the two cable strands.
